Im pretty sure that a way to create self-driving vehicles has not been invented yet, so i decided to make this tut on how to fake a self-driving warthog and rocket warthog.
You will need HHT v 5, HMT v 3.5, Phenomena's 60 plugin pack, and the skills to create ai.
Be warned, this tut will make the warhog less manuveralble for you.(But still drivable)
Ok, first PMI an elite's actv, actr, biped, and the weapon plasma rifle. Once you are done rebuilding the map and placing it in the maps directory, open up HHT.
Go down to warthog under vehicles and swap the dependencies of the 1st of a group of 3 actv's near the bottom of the list, with the elite. Do this for the rwarthog too.
Now go to elite under actv and null out the weap.
Then go to elite under bipd and null out the dependencies for coll and weap. Click save changes and exit out.
Now open up HMT with phenom's plugins and go to vehicles. Click on warthog and uncheck the box near the top of the tag editor, that says AI Unused. Then check the boxes for AI Driver Hovering and AI Driver Flying.
Now find a place that says Max Left Turn, and change the value to 10. Then find Max Right Turn (negative) right under it, also change the value to -10.
Scroll down even further and find the Seat tag with the drop down bar. Click on the arrow and select 0, then find where it says W-driver and change this to G-driver.
Do all of this (starts at max left turn) for rwarthog also.
Now scroll up and find actr, and click on the elite. Here you will see quite a few checkable boxes. Check the box that says Always Charge at Ene. (Its supposed to end with Enemies)
Scroll down in the tag editor and find Max Vision Distance, under the Perception section. Set the value to 30000. Do the same for the Hearing Distance.
Now we need to make them invisible. To do this open the bitmaps section in hmt and click on levels\a10\bitmaps\cryo glass and copy the meta number located near the top.
Now paste it over the meta of all these bitmaps.
Now save, and PRESTO you have just created hogs that seem to drive themselves.
Incase you didnt understand why i nulled out the weapon, the melee, and the collision model, its so that when a hog flips, not only is the elite invisible but it cannot attack you and you can walk right through it. I know that the ai can be kinda dumb and run into walls alot, but if you get anywhere near one, it will chase you relentlessly.
I had tons of fun making the demonstration mod for this. I included it so people who dont want to do the tut themselves to check it out, dont have to. Plz, admins and moderators, dont deleat the mod. I didnt want to post it in the mod submissions forum because it really isnt a full mod, just a demonstration. Feel free to make suggestions on how to improve the driving abillity. I hope this tut helped.
